Winter Lectures

Once again Danny Lamb will be presenting a series of lectures over the winter period to prepare new pilots for the coming great soaring season ahead. These lectures will be suitable for Pre-solo Pilots and solo pilots who have not yet achieved their Bronze qualifications. (They will also be helpful to those who reached Bronze level at the end of last year and need a revision session.) The dates are as follows :

  • 8th January - Air Law-Airspace
  • 15th January - Human factors - Radio
  • 22nd January - Navigation
  • 29th January - Principles of Flight - Instrumentation
  • 5th February - Weather - Cross country flying
  • 12th February - How to fail your bronze flying test
  • 19th February - Take an exam if you want to

The lectures will start in the lecture room at about 5:30 when the hangar doors are shut and will be 1 to 1½ hours long.

At this point in time, of course, the first three have taken place. But it is worthwhile attending the remaining lectures, even if you have missed the first three. The one on weather would be of interest to almost everyone, as we do need weather to fly. Sometimes you can have too much weather of course, or even too little. It's variable.
